It’s kind of sad to watch the inability to create deep relationships with people because of a lifestyle choice that is forced on Icarus. I wonder what he would do if he got to choose.

It has occurred to me that authors writings styles could be used to slow readers down while they read. This is my first of James Baldwin, but the way he writes makes me slow down because he writes using syntax that is not typical. He is talking about the fate of the world and if we do not slow down, we won’t change. A message within the artistic style of his writing. He’s saying pay attention, twice.

So far so good. Writing in a way of teasing of what’s up ahead. As soon as I ask a question, it gets answered in the next “chapter”. Also a fan of the formation of the short “chapters”.

It’s nice the series continued. The fact that the jokes made are funny because I know the characters is great. This last chapter was good. Reflecting on the beginning of the series to now. Seeing the character and relationship development… I love it.

So far, I have had to reread each section multiple times and slowly. It’s intricately written and once each part is understood, it’s like unearthing parts of the self and enhancing the view of who people are in America. The writing itself challenges you to slow down and process. Do not rush reading this book.
