Phoebe’s home life is poor. Her mother is a sloppy, alcoholic prostitute (my assumption). She has a baby brother that her mother neglects making Phoebe the stand-in mom. Apparently Phoebe’s mom went downhill after the loss of Phoebe’s dad. Not sure what happened yet.

We’re already off to an interesting start. It seems like the FMC, Phoebe’s, Professor is stalking her. He even got her a job at the club he owns, unbeknownst to her. Hmmm, seeming a little far fetched already. I’m keeping an open mind.

At this point, why stop seeing each other? Neither of them want it? If her dad is the problem then she can visit him every week. Like I don’t get it… neither of them want the other to go. Seems like torture for legit no reason… If she hated him as much as she claims, she would not be happily rocking his shit every night. Thats a fact.

Alrighty, they are officially an item. Lennon lied to him and said she wasn’t a virgin so he fucked her and found blood underneath them… oops. They didn’t get to finish either cause storm interrupted.

Phoenix and Lennon are having their first hang sesh. She played him one of her songs and it blew him away. There seems to be a mutual spark between them!!

Phoenix is dyslexic so Lennon has to find a way to tutor him in a way that works for him. Interested to see how this goes… he legit cannot read or write. He just uses speech to text.

Phoenix is failing English which means he won’t be able to graduate. Lennon is the best at English so she agrees to tutor him. He walks out on their first session and she finds him at the piano playing a song in the band room. She discovers that he has a serious talent.

Phoenix: Grew up with a happy family - Loving, beautiful mom and a father who’s extremely talented on the guitar. However, things took a turn and now dad is a drunk who abused his wife enough to completely scare her away when Phoenix was 7 years old. He’s been with his dad since.

Lennon: Her mom died at child birth. Her dad is a renowned song writer. She’s currently being bullied in school. :(

Soooo I spoiled the book for myself and found out that this isn’t a monogamous romance story. I don’t really vibe with that so I’m taking a break, not sure if I’ll return to the book or not.

Bro- is Rich actually married?? Nah no way.

I really want the main interest to be Houston ngl. Rich is soooooo sweet though so it’s difficult.

Wow, not her touching herself in THEIR bathroom on the FIRST DAY she was invited to THEIR house. Bold move… I certainly would not have made that decision but to each their own.

Update- it’s looking like there’ll be a love circle.

Oop okay so I’m liking this book so far. I’m curious to understand more about the FMC because I’m not entirely sure what she’s done to essentially climb the fame ladder so quickly. All I know is she was a student of the lead guitarist before he died. I hope this isn’t gonna be a love circle, that icks me out.

This book just seems odd in how none of this would ever happen. Some simple author who has some hit books is best friends with a vigilante whose boss also happens to be stalking her because an obsession he developed after making eye contact with her once in a bookstore…like what? I can’t not think about how unrealistic this book is. I also dislike how dismissive the FMC is regarding the situation she’s in…??

Ya know, the book is starting to get more intense which is something I like. But after taking some time to reflect, something feels off. That thing being that the MCC fights human trafficking and the sexual abuse of young girls but then he turns around and mentally tortures a young woman? Idk, that piece doesn’t make sense to me as much. Anyway, I’ll overlook that.

I have mixed feelings so far. I feel like the book is super corny and unrealistic but I’ve also heard that it gets better. I’m lowkey icked out by how quickly he developed an obsession with her, it only took one spotting and then bam- he’s obsessed. That’s unrealistic to me, and then murdering everyone who breathes in her direction is also just unrealistic. We’ll see how it goes though.
