I think it is kinda symbolic to have the MC pretend to be sick before the outbreak happens. I like it, let's see where it takes us thematically

I love the premise of the story and the themes, BUT I don't like that the author is being so vague. He is giving us tropes rather than people, he is not giving us an actual country, culture, ethnicity, nothing. It is so tropey, and so far not in a good way. I really hope he would actually pin this story to something. Make it mean something!
