Does this author hate dogs? I could do without the descriptions of shooting dogs and reveling in their agony - feral dog or not! And I don't care if it was "the mindset of the time" - for a book that is supposedly about healing, these scenes inflict distress on the reader!

MMC has the personality of a wet blanket. There's nothing about him to love. He's written as if he is supposed to be dim-witted.

FMC is too over the top.

I don't think this author has ever written a book with a real relationship in it, because there is 0 chemistry between these two. They go from strangers to "lovers for two weeks" in a page and a half.

There is no such thing as a redbone bloodhound. It's either a redbone COONHOUND or a bloodhound. For a tracking dog, probably a bloodhound.

So far, three mentions of Jurassic Park. Also, I hate when male authors try to write women: of course she sleeps nude. Of course she stops to notices her wrinkles and put on lipstick on her way to a murder. Because... Woman. 🙄
