there's something about chloe gong's writing that is just so riveting - it's not necessarily the most skillfull writing, but it pulls you in and grips you at once, and refuses to let you look away

this book is everything i ever wanted in a xianxia inspired book and amelie wen zhao's prose is STUNNING like she paints such beautiful sceneries & deep emotions through her writing i am obsessed🔥

nothing else to say except im REELING. this was definitely much better than tvd was, the plot & vibes were more intriguing (& suited to me) and even tho i guessed SOME of the twists, i didn't guess the full extent of them and im glad.

delighted to get an arc once again (i got an arc for OVE too), about 100+ pages and it's so good to see some familiar characters back again like rosalind & celia and my girl ALISA and also meet some new characters like orion, oliver, silas & phobe, who are all equally intriguing in their own way, cannot wait to read on and find out what exactly are each of them secretly up to 🥰

i wanted to say will, lily and alex were my favourite characters (and they are) but daniel has just inched his way into my heart. when i had to put down the book, i found myself thinking about him more than the others. i am now a daniel liang danli enthusiast 🥰😌

it feels soooo good to be back reading my favourite pov style - 3rd person past tense - again, i've missed it so much and that alone is making me love this book so much already 😌♥️

halfway through & im still so engaged in this story. the world building is still very illustrious and vivid, and there have been many battle scenes with the stakes rising higher each time that i've really enjoyed, especially seeing xingyin's growth and battle prowess improve each time. also love how she has truly grown from a naive, brash & innocent girl to a mature young woman while still staying true to her heart.
