This series continues to surprise me. I’m obsessed. I can’t just sit down and read a chapter or two and call it a night. Every time I pick up a book I end up reading 100 pages at a time! The books keep getting better, somehow.

Hell of a great opening. Wastes no time!

Officially the weakest opening of a book in this series so far. The first 15 or so chapters weren’t very exciting. But now it picked up considerably and back to being a page turner. Took longer than the others to pick up steam.

Stopped at Chapter 31. Got emotional a few chapters back. Would love to sit and finish the book now but I need to pull myself away to do some adulting. Will most likely finish this book tonight.

Chapter 18 and 19 introduced two items that upped the complexity two fold. The item that came from THAT character who popped up at the bar, too? Man. Just continually getting darker and more eff’d up. Stopped at Chapter 25 after a big confrontation. This has become my favorite book of the series so far. While layout is confusing, the items and the character work have all been so good. Tense!

Genuinely got emotional from Brandon’s message to Carl in the chat. I hope Carl finds Chris.

Chapters 10 and 11 hit pretty hard. Carl is beginning to understand all that he has lost. The smelling of the circus during “The Show Must Go On” quest sparking memories of his mother was really touching to read. The line that hit hard was about how once that smell went away, he knew he had lost something forever. He’d never smell that ever again. Made me say “Damn” out loud.

Never been so excited to read a book in my life. On Monday when I started it, I couldn’t put it down. Read over 200 pages in a day. First time I’m genuinely excited to carve out time and read. Can’t wait to read this whole series.
