Definitely is in the voice of Doyle. So far I’m loving it!

Re-reading this again. When I was younger, I related more to Strange but as I get older and grumpier, I find myself relating to Mr. Norrell.

I’ve heard good things about this book and I like the fact that it’s a quick read. Friends who like horror have recommended it, so here’s hoping it lives up to the hype.

So far we’ve only seen glimpses of the monsters. Which is the greater horror? The monsters or the plague? I’m digging this so far.

Obviously you could read/watch/perform Shakespeare for a lifetime and still find something new or react to a line, character, or setting in a different way. Ive always wanted to learn more about him and his work because so many artists I respect have such a profound admiration for him. This has been a good start.

I am enjoying this. It does remind me of other stories I’ve read before but that’s not a bad thing. I will say that the writing style of this novel is very cinematic. I could easily see this be a streaming series or movie (shudder the thought).

This is reminding me of The Devils in a way. I know this came out before that book but that’s not the order in which I discovered them.

I keep getting pulled into other books, this isn’t a commentary on this book though.

I took a several year break from Mr. Scudder, but it’s like seeing an old friend.

This is one of the more unique books I’ve read in some time.

I can see how this is the proto-Sanderson novel: political machinations, balls, outcasts, etc.

I know the comparisons to King are inevitable, but this reminds me of the best of his father, not the recent low points of his.

This story is finally going somewhere as it’s taken a longtime to set up and the story does drag a bit. I’m hoping for a good pay-off. I did enjoy Kafka on the Shore and that had similar issues but on a smaller scale.

I’m pecking away at this as a weekend book while focusing on 1Q84. It’s a Kindle Unlimited read, honestly it’s a pretty easy read. I like the idea of the premise but don’t know how it’ll play out. It definitely seems like a story that could and probably will be adapted to either a series or a movie.

Brando Sando is so good at crafting characters you want to spend time with. I wasn’t planning on starting this but it’s a good counter-balance to Murakami, whom I’m also currently reading.
