I’m not sure I’m going to make it through this. It’s a lot.

It’s 70+ degrees and spring training time, so this seemed like the best choice for a road trip listen.

There is still no reason for this book to be this long. And who thought it was a good idea to have a play script in between the time periods that repeats word-for-word scenes that come up in the historical chapters. I really thought my audiobook had glitched.

When the author makes a point of noting the dog in the book is an Aussie with a bob tail, the cover artist should probably ensure the dog on the cover isn’t a border collie with a full tail.

Why is the book so long and why are the characters all insufferable?

I would never have checked this out if I’d realized it was the same author as Thistlefoot, which was just not the book for me. I love the title and I love the cover, but these are just not my kind of stories. DNF

I have very low standards for cozy editing, but this one is just bad. They have a long conversation about why someone should be on the suspect list and then the main character is confused when she comes back to the room and sees his name there. They have a long conversation about how there’s no coffee carafe in the house they’re staying in and then the next day they’re filling a carafe. I can’t even.

It’s very jarring when there’s a new audiobook narrator 7 books into the series.

This is very bad.

I’m on Ch. 3 and all I want to do is put on a fuzzy sweater from limited too and chat on AIM while I brush my Felicity doll’s hair.

If I’d spent money on this book, I’d probably be really annoyed. Is anything ever going to happen in this story? Thank God for Libby.

There is a human man named Rye and that will take some getting used to. But otherwise, I’m already invested in the story.

I would like the record to show that I am only reading this because Brigette told me to.

I’m having trouble getting into this one because the dog’s name and gender has changed from the last book (and previous books). Oliver/Ollie the pit bull is now Lola the pit bull and I can’t handle it.

So happy to be able to revisit this while teaching my summer class. Feels like being reunited with long lost friends.

I can already tell

This book is so boring and I’m not convinced that it’s not the exact same book at The Last Time I Lied.

I would listen to Julia Whelan read the dictionary, so listening to her read her own book is even better.

I want to like this story. But the writing is not good. So many uses of “it” with nothing for “it” to refer back to. I have never had to stop to read sentences aloud to try to figure out what’s being said so many times—and I’m only 6 chapters in. I’m beginning to think cozy mystery authors should not venture into other genres.

The only other book I’ve read by this author was about a literal robot, but this narrator is far more robotic than Klara ever seemed. But I’m determined to listen to the last 3 hours.

I wonder how many hours of this audiobook I will need to get through before I don’t giggle every time they say butt.
