I cannot fucking stand books that trick me into reading about vampires. 50% of the way in. Ugh.

Let me preface by saying, I love Rebecca Ross. Her prose is exquisite. However this story left me wanting more. I wasn’t particularly invested in any of the characters, particularly the gods. The romance also felt underdeveloped. I wanted to love this so much but was largely bored.

This book is about lesbians that are angry at men so they become vampires.

“I wish we were being broadcast live on every channel and smartphone in the world, so everyone could see what they are allowing to happen to children.”

This book was written in 2022 about Syria. I wish I could say that the above quote would be effective. But it wasn’t. The world allowed it to happen to Gazan children despite their murder being livestreamed.
