Reading this with some hesitation. Is it a hit job? On the other hand her criticisms of the missions movement are so far legitimate and not without compassion. I am aware of all the flaws and mostly in agreement so far.

I think this should be mandatory reading for Americans moving to Asia. It really helps me understand some fundamental cultural differences.

This is academic and professional, and I read it for a grad school counseling course. Most chapters provided a psychological description of a topic. At the end of each chapter there was a reflection on the topic through the lens of faith, but it was a reflection, not dogmatic or preachy. He holds his worldview with an open hand and is very person-centered. I so appreciated it.

Loving this so far. This is my very favorite genre.

The audiobook read by Beth is hilarious in the first chapters. She reverts to her thick childhood accent and has such clever and very Southern turns of phrase.

This book is strange. It’s like Graham Greene mixed with dystopian fantasy.
