Incredible way to render a memoir, even if it is historical fiction.

Debilitation was a story about eating disorders that ate me out from the inside. It was about how puberty can feel like being forcibly made vulnerable to a cruel world. It was how there's something inherently disgusting to the idea of having a corporal form. It was 46 pages of a teenage girl sliding into the worst kind of mental health, and I barely survived it.

Nocturnes destroyed me. Onto the next anxiety-grinder of a story.

Doe Eyes was a horrifying story about wanting to be shot, and yet something worse happens. Bone Ward was probably my favorite.

Finally, a story about recursive dreaming that I understand.

A guy tries to rewrite Don Quixote by becoming Miguel Cervantes. Due to not being Miguel Cervantes, he fails.

I feel like each story is told through the model of paraphernalia: book reviews, historical amendments, etc. Like Ted Chiang, each story explores a certain philosophical context. I'm not sure I fully understand how to interpret what I'm reading.

The first story of this fictitious alternate reality is a lot to consider in the time of misinformation and restructuring beliefs. Borges is asking, what is truth, even if you fabricate it.
