My biggest problem with the book, and the reason for my slow pace, is its structure. It moves from one short observation to another, often on completely different subjects. Some passages are sharp, but so far I have found surprisingly little that feels either genuinely new or particularly useful.

Nietzsche has some interesting ideas and then suddenly comes up with something like: maybe socialism wouldn’t have happened if capitalists just looked more noble and born to command. Marx apparently could have been prevented by better posture and nicer clothes.

"The linguistic landscape of Bhutan is changing very fast and dramatically. It is very likely that in a few decades most dialects and many minor languages will be dead. A few major languages may survive the onslaught of English and globalization but will nonetheless have changed significantly. As each word represents an idea, the death of each language will mean the loss of a whole set of ideas and culture."
