it took me so long to start reading this, despite having it checked out from the library for a truly obscene amount of time. i've just reached the middle of act ii and i'm losing my mind over how good this book is.

Me, earlier: I will read this book at work because it is slow going. It is a short book. I will be done quickly. I love Crutcher's books! They're sweet and funny! This will be a jaunty, easy read.

Me, now: god, u fool. u always do this. what did u fdhfosj expect from the summary? do NOT cry at work, even if the other librarians would probably understand.

The thing about this book is that it is alternatively delightfully funny and achingly sad, and so I have been laboring over it for the past.... I don't remember how long it's been. I intend to finish this month, but like, who knows? And in the meantime, there are easier books that are calling my name...
