..... this chick is TSTL and my gut is twisting, anxious for poor Mason. I can't read this right now. It's too real and heavy with no expected HEA on the horizon like fluff novels. It's just too much right now. On to a popcorn read!

I know this is being marketed as a romance, but I'm sensing some serious "7 Pounds" vibes...

I think I hate this book.

How could I have forgotten how much I LOVE Malachi? I love his journal entries and wanted to finish them before I reread Sanctum and Fractured to *finally* get to Chaos for the first time. Reading his journal is emotional and he's so eloquent regarding those emotions. Freak. Gosh, I love his thoughts. It's a weird shift to jump to third person storytelling though. I think I might prefer his journal.

Note: my ARC has 400 pages to it. BUT it's missing 365 & 366, which were pretty telling pages if 367 is to be believed. It's like trying to find the truth through gossip- a piece here, a piece there. It's a good thing Asmodeus is a repeater when incredulous or Morningstar's heir may have been lost on me. 2 missing pages. Ridiculous.

Did not see that coming... Seriously thought it'd be Nightingale. What's your game, Asmodeus? I can't figure out your end game. And what's the deal with Elphon already?

Why did I just make the connection between Lucifer and Morningstar? Seriously... Only the second chapter and I'm really enjoying this- immersive world without being convoluted or so rich you need a break after a chapter (think Frank Herbert or Tolkien), well paced progression, and the start of a good mystery. "What is Philippe?"

Coming back after a few days break to read another series. Hoping I get me interested by 25%. I'm kinda just wanting to find out about Bron (play on "brawn" methinks...)

Oh, good. I was worried that Gabi had matured and learned from their previous experiences. Heaven forbid she listen to Marcello regarding her safety, especially after he presented a perfectly logical explanation for his stance. Men.

Oh, you humans may prefer empathy and mercy, but that’s like intuiting the answer to an equation: you still have to go back and work the problem to be certain you were right. We can come to genuinely moral conclusions by our own paths.

"If you make any threatening move, I will pull out your eyeball, climb into the hole, and eat your brainth. My mate will lay eggth in your sinuseth." Possibly one of my favorite lines ever written and it's better with the lisp.

There's just so much happening. Maybe it's because I've been reading straight through this series, but I need a break. Reviews say this is better than the last books, but I just can't right now. Something is up with Tod, I want redemption for Nash, I don't buy "mature 16 year olds who just KNOW" about life/love/heroism/psychology. It's a lot to swallow... I'll come back later.

I'm really pushing through this. I don't like Mercy. I'm easily distracted too because the lack of punctuation is throwing me off, rereading text that is already riddled with nonsense info. I get how it creates a deeper understanding of how Mercy sees the world and lives in it & educates the reader's culinary vocab. I get it, I just can't get behind it right now.

Crap. I don't like where this is going... in that whole "holding my breath because you're leading me down a dark hallway full of the unknown and pain and hopelessness, utterly void of happiness... but I still don't want to be anywhere else" kind of way. Lead on!

I just want to see Chaol happy! Why do I feel like that won't happen?
