This was a little slow in chapter 2 but it’s absolutely hurtling along now. I love the accents - you can practically hear them as you read - and the life stories of Smith and Hiscock are really effective in exploring how they ended up who they are and doing what they did. The descriptions of Kansas & the locals are wonderful and make it real for me.

So far, so depressing!

I'm enjoying it but struggling to get through it due to the deeply odd style - not writing style but literally the style in which it's narrated and the way the words are laid out on the page. Weird but good so far, maybe I'll finish it sometime this decade...
