Having such a difficult time reading this! It's mind-boggling to think that this is happening in the 1980s, rather than the 1940s.

I might abandon The Basic Eight. If I was in a better mood I might like in more; it's deliciously snarky. But it's also self-referential and repetitive in the same way that A Series of Unfortunate Events was. And I'm in a bad mood. Maybe better left until I'm ready to be snarky.

Dammit, dammit, dammit! Every time I get farther ahead with my Read shelf, I find new things to add to my TBR shelf. Dammit.

Compulsively readable.

Just put a hold on The Bat by Jo Nesbo. Can't wait!

Hubbard was a pathological liar.

Not far into it yet, but it's clear Hubbard was a paranoid schizophrenic and pathological liar. The author seems as though he's trying to be balance, though.

I'm up to the bit where Walter & Luis find the iridium layer. Always my favorite part of a book.

I'm loving this and also getting frustrated at how many rabbit paths there are to go down. Maybe it's because I can go down the hall and talk to a volcanologist or a mineral physicist or the person who runs the spectroscopy lab. Maybe if I couldn't I wouldn't get so distracted.

Time for the re-reading of Harry Potter, in preparation for the Simchat Potter on July 15.

My stupid "to read" list keeps getting longer instead of shorter. Damn those library book sales and their enticing titles.

Honest, I'm making progress. It's a slow process, though.
