I hope ellorens character undergoes drastic improvement somewhat soon. 1/4th of the way into the book, and the tearful , 'why are you so harsh?' Or the nazi-esque 'of course we want to keep our race pure and intact' not exactly winning me over.

I'm hating this book more with every page I read. I started out feeling mildly amused but every page frustrates me more. Everyone is so unlikeable! Liz is an ill mannered brat and her obsession with rubbing Cincinatti in Darcy's face makes me want to slap her. Her relationship with Jasper makes me nauseated...I mean seriously, it took you 14 years?

Cartography is another name for stories told by winners.
For stories told by those who have lost, there isn't one

Feeling like I'm reading another version of 'extremely loud, incredibly close' so far...not as well written but definitely similar.

It feels like im reading 2 books by 2 different authors .
Really enjoying elias' narration. Getting quite annoyed with the whininess and reputation in laias!
Hopefully her character will grow a bit more of a spins soon!

If I get one more description of patrice, I'm throwing this book across the room. How many times in 90 pages do you have to describe one character???

Ohhhh boy can Stephen king write! I have just finished the intro and I already have that 'I can't wait' feeling that is becoming so rare the more I read!
Somehow no one else seems to have the mastery over language, the ability to decant an image through a sieve of words and plant it straight into the readers mind.

All these stories seem to build up towards a climax that never comes. They are well written no doubt, but there is nothing in them to have an impact. They are inoffensive but unimpressive, kind of like tea and toast or instant coffee.

Just finished the second story. I always like short stories written from a child's perspective and 'when Mr pirzada came to dine' was especially good because it managed to capture the feeling of childish innocence that color my own memories of childhood. The wordless sympathy of a child for pain she barely understands is beautifully portrayed.

Dear god, I'm on page 2 and this book is wringing my heart. Frugal on words but each word as hard hitting as a slap in the face... This isn't going to be an easy book to read, I can tell already.

It's enthralling. I'm finding it hard to stay objective. It's a very convincing tale he weaves. The similarities in all the mythologies are startling.
The only downfall is the fact that he fails to reference ANYTHING! To be fair, most of the stuff I've checked pans out but some stuff,e.g. The map of the annunaki cities... Where did he get that from? Is it all supposition or is there an actual map?

Just started reading this book but already disagreeing with the author. We commit all sorts of atrocities in gods name... Murder n kill n maim n say it's gods will but it's not literal! If the Egyptian pharaoh said he was laying Hittite cities waste as Amon ra ordered, I think we should take that in the same vein.
