Not sure why but just as the "bond" plot ended suddenly there's an absolutely untied story just stuck in the end of the book.

You will see a variant of this approximately one thousand times in the book. Dreadfully repetitive.

It's So dull. It's trying to be witty but fails at being funny, throws around tons of occult babble that means nothing but has pretend highbrow airs and so far fails at delivering meaningful resolutions to high stakes situations - they all cut to black and we just get a debriefing after all action is over.
Author seems to lack skill to write action scenes at all.
So far this is leaning towards 2 stars.

Welp, the "when how no time to explain" pretty much sums up the plot so far.

An idiotic protag that lets in strangers and keeps doing what they ask deserves all the bad things that are coming for her. The real horror is going to be how stupid she is, isn't it?

Sweet, he's back to being nonchalant about everything weird.

It was just boring, but now it got stupid. A corpo guy revealing their evil corpo plan to the protagonists that's seemingly trapped? Bond villain much?

Feel like another Dead Space variety thing.
Characters are bleh.

That's supposed to be a whisper. I Really want to make the author try and Whisper all those consonants. Hell, he could try and moan them, like he wrote it for other characters. God, this book sucks.

The sudden switch is sudden. No foreshadowing, no guns on the wall, no hints that would have been pointing at it. Just for no reason what was black is now white.
It'll cost another star.

If the nice soldier man in fact turns out to be Jesus, it's minus star for the laziest twist ever. The hints are strong.

Someone's trying hard to channel King, and I don't mean it as compliment to either of them. Kids and make-believe but also sort of real horrors, so cliché..

If I drink every time it mentions a mysterious game, a game in real world, Rabbits or the dead sisters, I'm gonna be smashed within two pages.
This repetition works for a podcast since the listeners need their reminders from one episode to another, but in a book it fails miserably, and Terry can't feel the difference.

Bonus points if you're reading this in Terry's voice.

If I fail this year's challenge it's because I've spent all of my willpower on this dud.

The teenage life parts are just coma-inducing. Every time I get to another one of them, I barely have the will to keep going.

Unless Antoinette catches a bullet or smth, I'm going to be majorly pissed.
French did not have to mash the "majorly unlovable" button that hard.

While the new cast of characters are adorable, I can't wait for MC to stop playing house with them and start doing some detectiving.

One thing that bothers me is how easily Cal reads other people. Just like that, he knows who's afraid, who's trying to read him and exactly how he reads yo them. Cop clairvoyance much?

The last thirty pages or so are such a cringe I'll shave another star, it's unbearable.

The style is deliberately choppy, I'm not sure if that's by design or for the lack of trying.

Protag describes himself as if he's been written by a 15 year old kid.

I'm dropping this. He wastes time on explaining things that don't need explanation in our current time, and it's making reading this pretty unbearable. Thank you, man from the past, but I do know what an avatar is and I don't have the patience for you to keep droning.
