Halfway through and I rarely can read a book in full so easily. The combination of real-world and mythology and strong references across the cultures.

Overall good overview, which is why i was reading however, Girard distinctly takes a “it’s all Haiti’s fault” approach which is the antithesis of the basis of my interest in reading about haiti. Luckily am reading additional books that balance out.

This is way too short...

Near the end of the book seems more closely put together. There actually is some form of narrative, however it still is a mish-mash of pieces. I think the though is these statements are supposed to be "curated". Ultimately it still has moments of pure enjoyment however Poehler is no Sedaris in weaving together these thoughts in one piece.
