The usual pros and cons of a GB book! This hero is a little more alpha than is typical of GB, and I like the heroine a lot. I'm less enthused about the actual plot :)

I love Victoria Alexander so much more than most fellow HR addicts seem to! Funny, clever, smart, mood-lifting and even surprisingly sweet. And this one isn't anywhere near her best!

While parts of this debut do feel a little...debut-y, it's such addictive, engaging, energetic fun! Love this writer.

Feeling grateful for Goodreads, which has brought me wonderful new books, wonderful new friends and a wonderful excuse to be even less productive than usual :)

This author + the novella/short story format = a match made in book heaven! Novellas/shorter stories seem to highlight what I love about this author and eliminate what I don't.

Wow---this is so incredibly engaging and addictive! Five stars...at least so far :)

Just 45 pages in and I'm already to declare this very Tessa Dare/Spindle Cove-ish: it's not without substance, but bursting with lighthearted humor and joy!

I've started reading this book REALLY slowly in hopes of savoring it and making it last as long as possible!

Why did I have it in my head that I didn't love this author? This is a beautifully written, highly engaging, mood-boosting gem!

This book should have been my very favorite of her three, but so far it's my least favorite. Maybe that will change...?!

Craving a short, sweet escape!

I am loving this roughly a zillion times more than expected! Exactly what I was craving without even realizing I was craving it :)

So is anyone else getting notifications that people have "liked" their reviews, only to find that said likes aren't showing up on the actual reviews at all?!

Just 55 pages in and I'm already comfortable declaring the hero one of my all-time favorites. Not that I rush to judgment or anything ;)

I'm kind of torn: On one hand, I'm still adoring the writing style, prose, dialogue, and overall sparkly tone. On the other, more wary hand: This is one of those 'we'll call it love but it looks more like hate' couples who bicker and trade insults a zillion times more than they actually connect, which I tend to find exhausting.

So I' m not even halfway through this book but have already purchased the other three entries in this series! Crazy impulse buying is always a sign that I've fallen quickly and totally in love with a new author, which actually doesn't happen to me as often as you'd think!

I am having the best book luck lately..which I hope I didn't just manage to jinx :) This is such a witty, sharp, clever gem with eminently lovable characters. I love discovering a wonderful new (to me) author!

I've been eager to try a Grace Burrowes book for months now, but I could never quite decide which one. By putting this one on sale, Amazon made the decision for me!

Prepare yourselves to read at least 10 Things I Love About This Book ;) The 'best' JQ novel? Maybe not, but so far it's my personal favorite.

So is it too early to declare that this will be my favorite JQ ever?! (An unpopular choice, I realize, but then you guys already know I have odd taste!)

Oh, so THAT'S why people love this series.... :) My first Mackenzie, but I already know it won't be my last!

Why are so very many historicals a solid 100-150 pages longer than they should be?! I'm already getting restless even with some stuff I initially liked, and the aspects of the book that I wasn't enamored with after 50 pages are starting to flat out grate.

I think Maya Rodale's writing reminds me of Tessa Dare's at her best: exceptionally witty, sparkly, lively, fairly 'modern' and so enjoyable that plot and even my "eh"-ness on her hero matter to me a whole lot less than usual!

I've been very pro-anthologies/novellas lately---they seem to suit my current mood and attention span perfectly :) We get just enough to charm and delight, but not the endless, protracted conflicts and repetitive scenes that wear on my more limited patience :)
