I keep going away from and coming back to this book. It's well written but I can't bring myself to like Jane... she was selfish and refused to take responsibility for herself while blaming Matthew for not being well psychic in the last book. She hasn't changed. And seems to be running away from her challenges... trying to prove herself by hiding?

The editing is bad... typos, tense issues, and sentences that don't make sense abound... this is not a bad concept... it reminds me of books I love like the Kindred or Dark Planet series... but my main complaint is there is no explanation of this world... No female centric anything! And they have interstellar travel but still have medieval glass blowers?

Can't resist pointing out that scorpions and spiders have the same number of legs. Eight as they are both arachnids.

My main complaint so far is the inconsistent pov....whyborne shook his head...I'd worked with whyborne...or at least whyborne had come to believe so. If this is a hint towards something later it is not clear... it seems like a mistake like the book was switched to or from one of those povs.

So far I am trying to suspend my disbelief...we have a thief...lier....and con artists spending enough money to begger the baron for generations...but he doesn't expose her and turn her over to the police? Embarrassment is not equal to bankruptcy...

I am predicting that this will be my least favorite in the series. She hands her bag to a thief... Not smart but forgivable as a learning experience. Then she does the same thing less than a day later... Only to be saved by the hero. Then she hands herself over to thieves again...

Might be a very rare DNF for me... I am borderline.

While okay and very sensuous this plot could be a hundred other western romances... The author has lost the spark.

Back to sympathizing with the hero. Sad to say. I want to be mad at him, but I feel sorry for him.

So he cheated. I have disliked her from page 1 now I can't like him either....

She accuses him if being selfish. Pot... Kettle. Again not talking and jumping to conclusions. She really wasn't worthy. Ugh... Not improving.

Not sure I can get into the it is all the woman's fault romance.

I get an odd feel that this female protagonist is stuck in her teens. She thinks everything nice the male lead does is in an effort to control. And yet we got no sense of such earlier...

First thoughts... She shut him out. Was the textbook example of frigid because he didn't "fix" everything in her life... Because yeah that ever happens. Hope she eventually sees this.

Might set this aside for...awhile...

I keep expecting this to get better. As it stands I am so frustrated by the stubborn mule of a heroine with no movement from the hero... Yeah now I hate them both!

Shaking my head that he never signed the annulment...and spent years chaste to "honor" his wife. Sainthood granted...though not the brightest candle.

I expected to struggle with this heroine based on the blurb. But she is even more selfish and spoiled then I expected. Hopefully it turns around quick...a women traps a man in marriage by overtly lying about her identity. And she is the wronged party? The hero is a saint to tolerate her presence even years later.

The twist is too obvious... But then it was in the last one as well. Otherwise good story so far.
