Just finished reading Babel. It was good but way too long and took so long to get started. There wasn’t much depth to characters or the fantasy world. The end came and no resolution - but considering the themes, kind of makes sense but it feels empty
Weirdly impersonal main character, the inly character i wanted more of was left until the last.

This book is amazingly funny and hilarious. Loving it!

Not that interested at the mo'. The frivolous nature of this book, while amusing, comes up short against some of the other things I'm reading at the moment. Might come back when I'm ready for froth and giggles and not needing to think.

Teared up several times reading this. Not as difficult to read as the Secret River, only because Stan Grant's conversational writing style is easy going and thoughtful, even though the things he talks about are an awful blood drenched stain on my country's history. These books should be written and read and shared so we do not forget and repeat.

Hard to say how much I am liking this book, but it's great.

So many conflicted feelings in this and I'm only a small way in. The Georgian London set up is fascinating, but at the back of my mind is the arrogance of Britain towards the Indigenous Australians. And EVERY TIME Hughes uses 'Aboringine' I cringe.

Phew! Forgotten most of it as everyone has the same name. Still extremely easy to get immersed in.

Going a bit slower than I'd like, and there are so many character arcs and not enough cohesion for a book a third of the way through. Only minimal Shakespeare worship in this one.
