Finished Book 1. This may well be my favorite Muraki so far, so subtly twisting one’s brain, intelligent and clever, fascinating. All Murakami is, but there’s something apecial about this three-volume book.

I find myself more like bored. Kinda like excessive chase or sex scenes bore me. Really, anything that becomes repetitive and goes on too long. The gore upon gore being most of the storyline, paired with complicated interrelational musings(also not something I endure wel), the actual plot seems thin at best, spun for the sole puprpose of offering a stage for the gruesome characters to be gruesome

All the booze you can drink, for free, and an anti-hangover field?!?! Facepalm and a groan. Too much drinking in this book.

This book is almost a DNF for me. I hate every character in the book, each more shallow (both in writing and in what little character ee see) and more horrible than the other. The world of the book is a twisted one, something I’ve never enjoyed one bit. I thought I was going to read something witchy, but this is just a miserable gothic version of a Jane Austen novel, with the witch part more of an afterthought.
