Damn, the second short story was just nowhere near as strong as the first.

Sometimes after playing games, reading genre fiction or manga, I will read something and think, Oh right, this is what real writing is like.

When your book is over 1,200 pages long, you can get away with setting up Chekov's Gun 100 pages in.

This is a very information dense book with tiny writing, I timed myself a couple of pages, did the maths and it looks like a 58 hour read, not including rereading passages for clarification or note taking.
Please pray for me and my non-existing working-memory.

I've read a few Nobel Prize for Literature winners now, and so far this novel might be the first one from a laurate, where I've thought, "yeah, I get it."
