It’s a fun read. This is the second book in the series and reading further about the community from the first book is comfortable. It’s like you’ve put down roots in Lake Eden.

I enjoyed the Hallmark film so much I decided to read the book. Interesting so far.

I’m reading an 1898 translation by a British Museum Italian scholar Rev HF Cary. It’s written in the syntax of ‘throw Papa down the stairs his hat’ which means I have to read some passages twice to understand what’s going on.

It’s not funny.

Translated by Rev. H.F.Cary in 1805.

Bloch’s early works (late 30s to 1946) are sleep-thru. As I was reading, I found I was thinking shopping lists and don’t-forgets. Until I read The Bogey Man Will Get You (1946). The language was sharp, the characters engaging, and a very clever plot. This is my Robert Bloch.

It was difficult to start: trying to figure out who is who, grasping the meter of the language, and trying to understand what the plot is.

Surprisingly likable.

Fantastic book of brilliant poetry.

A Dickensian read. Fabulous.
