I love Jance’s books since I know the places she writes about having grown up in Phoenix and having one aunt & uncle in Tucson and another in Flagstaff. I’ve read most of the Joanna Brady series about Cochise County, now this Ali Reynolds mystery takes us to Yavapai County.

I’ve read & reread ‘strength to love’ and ‘the measure of a man’ & a variety of other speeches, sermons, prayers and essays by Dr. King but for whatever reason, I hadn’t come across this collection published in 1992 before last weekend.

I find it tragic that the themes and goals he put into words 1956-1959 not only haven’t come about, but are in fact being actively dismantled and unwoven in our time.

Great writing. Deeply personal & reflective. Inspiring & engaging

Nonfiction is always a slower read than fiction, but I love Art and I love brain science, so it's a challenge, but one I'm enjoying.

Haven't read any Kurt Vonnegut for a long time. It's great to be reminded of why I love him so much.

Fascinating. 30+ years ago she foresaw dark times for us in the 2020s. Challenging look into society, community, family, tradition, institutions and religion. Certainly not your typical coming of age story.

Gotta remember, it's not what you teach, it's how you have students process that content. Not just art history, but as an art historian. Not just aesthetics, but designing. Not just visual literacy but thinking visually.

Published in 1998 (I started teaching in 1993), from one of the framers & advocates of Discipline Based Art Education (DBAE) that I was taught by such great professors at Concordia University, Nebraska. Art isn't just for a few gifted & talented kids who'll end up being professional artists- Art helps kids think and thinking helps them learn & better curious, which they need for school & for life.

Really enjoying this book.
