“Even if I never read another book, I’m still a person with intrinsic value, and later I’ll be a river.”

There are a lot of little things that bother me in these books. But currently I’m struggling to understand what year it is. Or maybe I just don’t understand the limitations of small-town fire departments. Are there places where they’d really send untrained, visiting police officers into a burning building, and without scba? When apparently the whole town regularly drills?

Oh my goodness this bit with the reagents. I'm screaming. Or. I'm stopping every sentence or two to collect myself. "This isn't to punish you, this is to make you better." AAAAHH

Oh my god this is horrible

I don’t really love the conceit of woman-as-child. Should have been keeping a running tally on every “tiny,” “childlike,” “girl,” “child,” “small.” Ugh.

Oh my goodness. This exchange between Hella and David about the difficulty of being a woman is fantastic. I think it makes up for the misogyny demonstrated by Giovanni and David earlier, and shows us that Baldwin is in on the joke. Very nicely done.

Ok so I can't wait to say this until the end and my review (though I will assuredly repeat it then and there as well): "Omg I want to marry Hunter." Ok, that is all.

Hm. I enjoyed listening to the first one in the car, so I thought I'd try this one. I am interested in learning more about Lisbeth. Not sure about other plots yet. Also, I hate the word "panties" (especially as read by this British reader) possibly more than I hated the frequency of the word "bitch" in the first book.
