Spoiler : (won’t let me hide this on the app) Poor mr Bennet was dispatched st pin after Lizzie wedding and Mrs B goes up live with the Bingleys despite them in P&P moving away from netherfield to get away from her.

This is a shorter, lighter and sweeter version of Charlotte Sometimes by Penelope Farmer, a great little book.

I know that Noel Streatfeild is the children's author favoured by Hollywood, but I prefer Elizabeth Enright, Edward Eager and Eleanor Estes (so many 'E's!) as "old fashioned flavor". This book was a rewrite of Streatfeild's lovely "Ballet Shoes". So... I felt I'd read it before.

I'm rereading this wonderful book, with holiday enjoyment.
