Part 1 was confusing as hell. Felt like there were time switches and character switches that I could t track well. Ultimately there was one major plot point that feels important. Maybe this first part was primarily to set things up.

My goal in the next 5 years is to have fully read all Canon Star Wars novels with plenty of other books mixed in.

Loved chapter 21. The whole chapter I thought it was talking about a new character but it turned out to be Namir’s backstory. Great twist! Other parts I really liked were Namir’s conversation with an unnamed pilot on Hoth (likely Han Solo) and also their POV with n Darth Vader.

Enjoying this new point of view for Star Wars. Following a rebel squadron with their guerrilla tactics is different. Freed’s writing style is cold, sharp, metallic echoing the military theme.

Style is cold, hard, fast… fitting for a book focused on military.

On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft
What Writing Is - begin here. Everything before this part was King’s memoir of his life through the lens of writing.

Through part 1: definitely 2 or 3 star so far. I’m not yet caring about the new characters. Maybe Temmin and Nora. Mentioning some of the characters from the movies is fun but still not hooking me in. I am enjoying Wendigs writing style. It’s fun.

Just okay so far.Not finding the characters interesting. Timmons droids could be fun. I hope the plot becomes more interesting soon. Too many POV shifts mid chapter. Was difficult to understand listening to audiobook.

Book1 was amazing. Book 2 (Muadib) was much slower. Good. World building. Understanding Fremen society. Paul and Jessica have changed so much already.

Fascinating that Bene Gesserit women are the true power, not the ones on thrones. This book is deep.

Difficult to read. Characters use unique words and don’t explain them. Kind of cool that author lets the reader be confused like that.

9 - okay. Kanan still in bacta remembering his and Depa’s first mission. They get attacked and Caleb gets shot because he gets too cocky and far out but a clone trooper named 1157 breaks out of rank and stands over him. His nickname becomes stance.
