I think I’m probably done. The Humour is stale, the story is nonexistent, and I’ve basically been waiting for this to be over since page 2.

It’s been really cute, but is starting to drag. The knowledge that this is a romance and who it appears will be the partner feels… stupid. I hope that it gets more interesting or at least more fun again soon.

All of this gun shit and "The US ARMY is TE?H BEST!!!" shit is stupid. I hate it and it's so incredibly boring. Generally, pretty over this crossover between worlds. Why is Earth tech stronger than magic that ignores defenses?

I’m honestly not sure if I finished the first book and bored out of my skull. I dislike every character and the plots are so fucking stupid.

I’m trying real hard, but this book is kind of dumb. I get the predicaments of the protagonist, but it’s just a stupid situation which spins out of control.

And now a sex bot?

*sighs*

Blah blah the girl who’s been helping him for the entire series loves him for reasons not supported by the text. She had an even worse husband and fell for the same toxic traits in Ethan.

Gods this is bad.

Gods, he’s even more annoying than in the first book.

“Why isn’t she in Love with me?! She loves me!! Doesn’t she understand what love is????”

This 70 year old man has less understanding of love than my 14 year old kids. His only understanding of even affection is ownership. “I’d spend hours just staring at her.” Yeah, but did you like her? Did you share any interests with her?

Why am I still reading this?

It’s better in the writing and likability of the protagonist, at least a little.

There’s a dryad who lures men to their deaths and only men and even men who aren’t attracted to women… and the writing on all of it is extremely sexist and gross.

Then the character is taken aback because the writing was allowed, even though all that liberal diversity stuff exists.

It’s been ok, but I’m not enjoying it a huge amount. And the tonal shifts are wild.

It fucking amazes me how often a book unexpectedly should have a fucking content warning for brutal murder of children.

And now a second chapter about kids dying. In this case talking about euthanasia parks where you can gently kill your kids to set them free from their pain. This is a fascinating book, but I cannot.

This book shows a world where no one cares the genders of folx who are in love. And that’s beautiful.

The section talking about domestic abuse and homicide were absolutely unnecessary.

This is kind of interesting, but there’s so much racism.

I was thinking that this was kind of cute and outdated in its humour, especially with the treatment of the gay character. Ha ha, another humorous fantasy from the 70s/ 80s... nope, 2013. Not sure I'll finish this.

I well remember the sexism that Heinlein is so well known for. But this is so ridiculously pretentious. Don’t think I’ve reached a divergence point yet, but it’s been years.

I’ve had such a hard time reading this book. I remember loving it as a kid. But it’s just so bad. The main character is such a pathetic idiot and the way all the other characters are treated is laughable.

Wow, chapter 26 is disgusting. Sexist, condescending, and worse.

Lots of sexism and poor understanding or social norms, but less than I’d expect from this sort of book, typically.
