Finally getting around to reading this

Okay I REALLY liked this one but I just couldn’t give it the full five. Because of the kid element, I just thought this needed to be a longer book. I typically hate the grumpy trope but I think this was done pretty well so it didn’t drag the book like I feared. But the energy between Gus and Teddy was electric I could have read 100 more pages of them!

Very good! Her backstory addresses how childhood plays into our later life. I get why, but she didn’t get super specific on her later in life years and then made it feel a bit ambiguous in at the end when the first 3/4 was so specific.

Really good story, I struggled with the execution. Story was hard to follow at times, especially when the first few paragraphs would start very ominously and then would backtrack?

Enjoyed the father/daughter relationship and the realistic friendship of Sam and Alice, but I also didn’t feel super connected to Alice as an individual. For that reason, it kinda felt like I was passively getting through the book. I feel like we didn’t get to know her much—I loved her observations though.

okay i'm like 20 pages in and not to be all "I went to grad school this seems unrealistic" but WHAT??? I WAS IN GRAD SCHOOL AND THIS SEEMS UNREALISTIC AND TOO WEIRD. Okay I'm going to keep giving it a shot but rocky start ppl.
