Deze komt weer van mijn zeer oude te lezenlijst (ergens in 2016 toegevoegd geloof ik). Ik las toen dat dit een van de favoriete boeken van Martin Luther King was, en ook hem heeft geïnspireerd en werd nieuwsgierig.

Na lange tijd weer begonnen. Ga ik hem uitkrijgen? Of geef ik het op?

Inmiddels uitgeluisterd, maar vond hem zo mooi (en ook vol van gedachten om nog even op door te kauwen), dat ik hem ook nog een keer lees. #onlinebibliotheek

De bieb deadline haalt me in & iemand anders heeft dit boek ook gereserveerd.

Het is vermakelijk, maar leest niet heel snel (gedateerd taalgebruik, kleine letters, concentratie vereist).
Het doet me denken aan Agatha Christie, maar dan één zaak per hoofdstuk

Ik ga niet de hele omnibus lezen (daardoor vind ik het niet leuk genoeg), maar wel dit deel. Opnieuw reserveren dus.

Oke, ik ga toch meteen naar boek 3. Teveel zin 😇

De platen zijn echt prachtig, maar er zit iets in de schrijfstijl waardoor ik er niet doorheen kom. Meerdere keren geprobeerd... Soms heb je dat.

Na haar andere boek in het boekentoernooi in de tak historisch (de vroedvrouw van groenburgwal) benieuwd geworden naar meer Jeanine de Vries...

Dit boek is zo traag en taai, dat ik er eigenlijk niet doorheen kom. Toch staan er tussen alle herhaling ook waardevolle dingen. Nu met mezelf afgesproken dat ik stukjes mag skippen, als het teveel herhaalt (eens kijken of het me dan wél lukt het 'uit' te lezen)

Tjonge, dingen waar iedereen momenteel naar verlangt in de politiek volgensmij:

Tegenover conflict stellen ze consensus, tegenover stemmen overleggen, tegenover theatraal ruziën respectvol luisteren.

(gaat over de Occupy Wallstreet beweging, die later in het boek trouwens weer aan zichzelf tenonder gaat)

Na een paar pogingen, ben ik nu eindelijk echt in dit boek begonnen. Het is vrij Amerikaans, en soms vind ik het wat te langdradig, maar er staan ook zeker goede dingen in. Bijzonder detail: het is geschreven door een tweeling en daardoor helemaal in 'wij-vorm'. .
