Not liking this as much as I hoped. I don’t think pleasure magic is for me.

I read the first chapter and I’m not sure this book is for me. The writing style and dialogue just don’t hit right. It wasn’t the content — an overflowing toilet can be funny and gross and all the things the author was trying to convey. Maybe I will try it again someday, but for now back to the bookshelf.

I need to pick this one up again.

This is probably not the best first Le Carre to read. There is something about the style that is jarring yet I don’t hate it.

I started this on audiobook while struggling through a very short, uncomfortable walk in July. I previously tried to read this physically and couldn’t get past the first few pages. The audiobook made a huge difference for me and allowed me to get into the story enough that I could continue reading my paperback.
