Well, I’ll put in the work. And for what it’s worth - it is more difficult to get into than any other classic I’ve read, but it’s also interesting. And I have been wanting to read this for 26 years, so.

Sometimes reading about fictional mother- daughter relationships makes me really angry.

Couldn't find any romance book to hold my attention, so I'm rereading fanfic for comfort.

Weird and challenging, but fascinating.

Reading this makes me wish I had discovered this as a teenager. Idk who I would have become then, but I think 16 year old me would have loved this. Which isn't to say I don't love this now: I am very much enjoying this.

This book is riddled with typos and misprints!

Puh.

Okay, so reading this feels a little like battling the final boss of the German language (and German is my mother tongue), but I'm enjoying it. You'd think Mann was getting paid extra for commas, though ;)
