I stopped on this book because there were so many references to Homer’s Iliad and The Oddessy that I decided to read that and haven’t gotten back to it.

Excellent so fat

Enjoying it. Historical biography that reads like a novel.

Enjoying so far. Challenges much of what is commonly taught about the Crusades...that the Muslims world was a more advanced, tolerant society, or that the Crusaders were barbarians looking for conquest and loot. It might more appropriately be subtitled "Christendom Counter-Punch". Stark details how going on was an expensive endeavor, and concentrated with families. A good quick read, and a must-read book.
