Really enjoyed this book and learning about the Queen as a teenager and her ascension to the throne. Finally had the opportunity to finish the book due to a hurricane and lack of cable and internet.

Alexandrina , later renamed Victoria, was a minor German princess not in line for the throne. When the last direct descendant died, she was named to the throne. Her mother and her mother's friend decided she would be a puppet princess so they could rule in her name. She saw through this and would not allow it.

the introduction was slow reading but chapter 1 was easier reading.
