this is a gutting and incredible story but i think the writing style takes something away from it

stressed!!!

dnf'ing at 30%. i tried so hard to get into this because the premise is so interesting but the story is slow and i LOATHE the stream of consciousness writing style. i keep having to reread entire pages because they barely make sense.

unstoppable force (my dislike of riley sager's writing style and his weird choice of choosing a gender neutral pen name to primarily write from the pov of female characters who lack dimension) vs immovable object (book with an interesting enough plot that at this point i might as well finish even though the writing style is heavy handed)

I was mostly listening to this on audio and ran out of spotify audio hours at 90% days ago...one of these days i guess i'll have to pick up my physical copy

DNFing at 50% - hear me out! I know this book is beloved and I have no true qualms with it. I like the atmosphere and find the dynamics interesting. The writing style moved very slow for me and I had a hard time connecting for a while so I skimmed some reviews to see if anyone else had this issue and spoiled the book for myself instead (although I had guessed it already tbh) so now I really can't push through.
