Awesome book. On page 76 now, it's a loaner and we just ordered a copy for ourselves. If you've wanted to garden without buying all the "necessary" chemicals and gear....and yet felt stymied by the mysterious, devilish details, this book will get you there. Inspiring, of course, yet sensible, practical and still scientific.

a phenomenal clarification and comparison of Western and Eastern views of medicine. What in the world took me so long to get around to reading this? now I know what a 5 star book really is.

enjoying this very much. It's an historical novel, a romantic novel, and a commentary on the dynamics of power and roles between men and women. The writing draws me into the story and the veil between the mystical, supernatural and the real disappears.

an enjoyable read on the deck on an early summer day. Charming, and demonstrating a nearly lost art of the amateur naturalist, the author's artwork adds to her notes.

Not as wonderful as the 1st, still totally Alice Waters with her intense dedication to the freshest possible foods, prepared to showcase them. inspiring, informative and perhaps a tad overdone at times (are her favorite California varieties going to grow well here in South Carolina or Florida).

Still reading The Art of Simple Food II as bedtime reading. Love her recommendations of specific varieties of plants to try in my garden. The section on herbs is terrific - it makes the seemingly complex very simple. Her love for food and gardening and cooking comes through on every page - pure Alice Waters. I'm enjoying it.
