I started the book earlier this month but never got to putting it here until now. Im trying to read at least 15 pages a day.

I wasnt tracking the progress! Haha but so far the start is slow but im starting to enjoy the authors method of reeling you into the story to start to question the difficulties of the situation with the different personalities.

It just gets better and better

This is for sure the best part of the novel. The suspense in each dialogue between Raskolnikov and Porfiry Petrovich is rich with subtleties that just leave you smirking

Im noticing certain details about Razumikhin and the way Dostoyevsky highlights small details about his behavior but I am left with a little suspense at the moment haha.

I am finding disagreements with some of his initial points but I do want to see how he frames his argument and what points he uses for backing his claims

Moonflowers is an excellent passage that shows the struggle within men and women of the era post world war. The way they express themselves through a lack of expression is highlighted a lot within the sister, and the brother’s journal entries. Our internal chaos and how we manage it is fundamentally different when analyzed between both cultures.

The way Dostoyevsky describes Avdotya and Pulkheria I find impressive. He paints the picture with their reactions, lack of reactions, and their behaviors. The same goes for the great Razumikhin too.

Its interesting to see how the expression of emotions are different between cultures and classes. As I read each page I’m caught in constant bewilderment about how they express themselves so restrictedly. I’m glad this book got recommended to me!

Ive started reading again!

Some interesting points provided in the first couple of pages. I definitely have some reflecting to do with this! I’m glad I got recommended this book by my buddy edgar.

So far pretty great start!
