“I’m done waiting, Alinyonok. First thing tomorrow, I’m coming for you, and nothing and no one will stop me.”

“Good. And there’s one more thing…” His eyes are like black diamonds as he brings his face closer, his voice dripping with menace as he says softly, “Have all the fun you want with your friends in the Big Apple, but know this: any man who tries to touch you will regret it for the rest of his very short, very painful life.”

The scene reminded me a little of Fifty Shades of Gray with Anna first met Christian.

Elio's voice was deep and hypnotic. "Still so stubborn. Just know this…Even before you let me know that you’ve loved me and only me your entire life…I was ready to do whatever I had to, to keep you safe. Even before I knew you’d never wanted to leave me…I would have protected your life until my dying breath.” He tipped my chin up and placed a kiss, soft as a feather, on my forehead.

“Do you know what you want to order?” He asked me, nosing toward the menu.
I stared at him dumbfounded. A man was bleeding right next to us, a fork impaling his hand and pinning it to the table, and my husband just asked me what I felt like eating.
“You’ll enjoy the scallops here, and the porcini tagliatelle,” Elio continued as if everything was perfectly normal.

Elio is so unhinged lol

A wife is a husband’s property, like it’s always been…I’d simply give your husband advice on how to better please you.
My mouth dropped open with shock at his words, but before I had time to respond, Eluì tossed his napkin onto the table, picked up one of the many forks at his place setting, twirled it expertly between his fingers, and drove it through Roman’s hand, pinning it to the tabletop.

She released a soft snort. “Be careful, Elio, I might think you’re protective of me.”
“You’d think right,” I told her. “I am protective of my possessions. My car, my weapons, my apartments…my wife.”

In seconds, my blood pressure rose, anger like nothing I’d ever felt flooded me. It tasted like blood and ashes on my tongue. I slammed the laptop closed and then picked up the entire thing up and smacked it against the table.
When that didn’t work, I bent the entire fucking thing in half.
