Bilingual edition. This is fucking painful, and I don't even know how to say that in French, mais j'ai mal à la tête quand je l'ecris. (??) Because it's well beyond my reading level, and I can't even tell you how much of that is affected by the fact that it's 19th century French, but honestly some of the English escapes me, too. Oh yes and it's very violent. Trigger warning... every other page.

I've been avoiding this book. I'm afraid to finish it... not because I'm afraid I'll miss it, but because I'm truly afraid of what might happen.

The blurb sounded beautiful. But so far it's just ugly horror after ugly horror. This book is just a bad influence so far, and I'm worried for easily influenced kids who might read it.

Inulin = so much farts! But I did suddenly understand how to declutter my house. Funny to then see others in the support group reporting the same thing.

This got quite boring in the last 50 pages or so. Nearly 100 pages in, and she JUST met Tea Cake. I don't give 2 shits about a donkey funeral or her undeveloped relationships with 2 husbands. And the retro ebonics are getting annoying. I keep wondering how much of this I don't "get " without knowing that I don't get it, and it's becoming too frequent that I find myself having no clue what they're talking about.
