This book is incredible and beautiful... I'm reading slow to savour every word. Completely recommend it.

This book is utterly exceptional.

This is great and fascinating and all but there's part of me that suspects that it's a total fabrication of a 'perfect' case history.

An observation: assumed pronouns in psychotherapy/counselling books are almost always female.

The structure of this is odd: it isn't by the Dalai Lama, but is in fact written by a guy who spent a lot of time with him and is recollecting their conversations. This is like second hand Dalai Lama info!

the limiting gender-based characterisations in this make me feel uncomfortable

but how do you reconcile karma with the oppressive forces we are subject to in our late-capitalist world?

no pun intended, but this is very repetitive and every chapter opens with the same facts.

this might seem like a fun and easy book for beginners but I'm here to tell you friends that it is not. very intense and dense, but beautiful and fascinating nevertheless.

really enjoying this so far. the way she describes the world through what Jessamyn sees and feels is just magnificent. every sentence is so ..... tactile and vivid.

I am finding this fascinating but HIghLY REPETITIVE so far. I know it is a book about obsession but seriously....

I am enjoying the stuff about Iceland a lot but am finding the author's unchecked privilege to be problematic. I guess it is a book about British middleclassness and new colonialism as much as it is about Iceland, for this is where the author is writing from.

So enjoying this and recognising myself in it. It's a great exploration of life in the gentrifying world of East London and the waferthin pretense of hipsters.
