It's building up a little bit!

The back and forth from past to present doesn't feel like a smooth transition. It feels a little rocky. I'm also not really feeling the thrill of the story. The main question is: Is she hallucinating? Is she losing her mind? No doubt that she needs a therapist after a year of this turmoil.

I wish each chapter would tell me which POV it's going to be in--Joe Dilliard's, or the TBI agent, or whomever. You have to figure it out for yourself as you read each chapter. It drives me nuts.

A little slow start, but the potential is there. I just hope it picks up a bit. I don't want to feel that I'm reading a dry story.

Chapters 27 and 28----Sex, sex, and sex. Wow. I am stunned.

I am at the part where Beth has asked to be picked up at the Hana airport. I have strongly mixed feelings about this. Yes, sisters should be there for each other, but Jacks never asked for her to come to Maui. I feel like Beth is overstepping her bounds.

On the front cover of the book, Stephanie Gray (New York Times bestselling author of "America's First Daughter") described this book as "both funny and heartbreaking." I just finished Part II and I have come to the conclusion that she's spot on. It is beautifully written and I am looking forward to my next day off so I can read Part III!
