Re-reading for maybe the fourth time. If I had to pick a desert island non fiction book, this would be it. It's just wonderful.

I had paused this because I read that only 25 percent was true.
But which 25 percent?
Even if only a quarter is true, it's an extraordinary tale of endurance. So I have resumed.

Utterly intrigued. And I've laughed out loud several times already. Reminds me a little of a drinking man's crock of gold

Underwhelmed. Given that I've been reading folklore for over forty years and this was so well reviewed in all the major places. I might not even finish even though at the halfway mark

I had forgotten how good this was. I think thirty years ago this was my introduction to historical novels. Bernard Cornwell really knows how to tell a story. So glad I kept these first editions all this time to read again, over a generation later.

Slower going than I thought it would be.

Buehlman doesn't do light hearted. And that's sort of the point. Been looking forward to this one since it was released last year.
