"There were as many truths - overlapping, stewed together - as there were tellers. The truth mattered less than the story's life. A story forgotten died. A story remembered not only lived, but grew."

Farah is starting The Girl on the Train
“I get into bed and turn the lights out. I won’t be able to sleep, but I have to try. Eventually, I suppose, the nightmares will stop and I’ll stop replaying it over and over and over in my head, but right now I know that there’s a long night ahead. And I have to get up early tomorrow morning to catch the train.” -last sentences of this unsettling murder story. *Sigh

Farah is starting Faithful Place (Dublin Murder Squad #3)
“I looked out at the Custom House and the shifting streams of lights and the steady dark roll of the river under the falling snow, and I hoped to God that somehow or other, before it was too late, we would all find our way back home.” - was the closing line of this book.

Suka. Byk cerita mitologi yg asing. Tapi trus sampai baca bagian ini “At the time of his election, Mohammed was an illiterate camel-caravan master. But every day he would leave his home in Mecca and go out to a mountain cave to meditate. One day a voice called to him, "Write!" and he listened, and we have the Koran.” Dia bilang "Write" instead of "Recite!" Salah sebut atau... (Ini transkrip wawancara)

“When you find an author who really grabs you, read everything he has done. Don't say, "Oh, I want to know what So-and-so did" -- and don't bother at all with the best-seller list. Just read what this one author has to give you. And then you can go read what he had read. And the world opens up in a way that is consistent with a certain point of view.” -Joseph Campbell.

Those first images that crack your heart open and you spend the rest of your life chasing, or trying to recapture In one way or another?..."

200/900. Love. All the details.Antique stuffs. Depressing & complicated family relationship. Somehow it felt like recalling my own memories, except it wasn't my story, at all. Not the bombing, new york city, museum, painting... Oh, at first this book reminds me of Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close by JSF. That one is brilliant book, but i like this one a little bit more, so far

"We'reconstantly changing facts, rewriting history to make it easier, to make them fit with our preferred version of events... We invent memories. Without thinking. If we tell ourselves often enough that something happened, we start to believe it, and then we can actually remember it... "
