Why is the dialogue painfully bad.

My second time trying to read this book, I really can’t do it, writing style just isn’t for me, I literally don’t care about any of the characters — they die anyway.

Is it just me or is the Snow family pretty damn dumb for oNLY investing in District 13 and literally nowhere else? Did they not even put money in savings? Either they’re really arrogant and dumb or Suzanne Collins was just trying to find an easy reason for why they lost their fortune.
