I’m absolutely enthralled. Such beautiful language, imagery, and character development. Writing like this is why I would never try to write! I’m listening to the audiobook, and it’s just short of hypnotic.

I’m in a Walter Tevis kick. So far so good.

I’m on Part 7. Oh I hope this doesn’t take an ugly turn. 🙁

This book is cracking me up. I’m so ashamed to be just NOW reading Phillip Roth! 🤦🏼‍♀️

And I know already I’ll love it. The voice of Jayber reminds me of Stephen King’s Paul Edgecombe inn”The Green Mile.” A simple, honest, easy-to-love and feel-for man. Nice job, Kentucky!

The audiobook is like listening to a radio play! I like it.

I’m usually too excited to read the introduction and almost always jump right in: Chapter 1. As I did with this book. But just a few pages in I came to the Battle Royal and had to know more! This particular introduction was by the author himself, and it helped so much. I can hardly put it down now!

People, GO GET THIS BOOK (or download it)! I very rarely read CURRENT books, but I have no regrets. Following the characters through letters is difficult at first (I recommend reading in a distraction-light environment) - like Game of Thrones, but once in, I can’t read fast enough!

Chuck-full of information. It reads more lightly than a textbook, with lots of little quirky tidbits, humorous. But still heavy with info.

I think with a Gaelic accent now. And it's lovely.

I'm really surprised at how much I like this book! I just grabbed it as I walked out the library. I had no idea it was fourth in a series. Once I realized it was about ghosts and haunting I was skeptical that I'd like it. But what a great idea! It's good.

So VERY interesting! I've already pushed it on my workmates (we teach Ky history) and my dad! If you find Ky history interesting, you will really enjoy this book! Written like a novel, but researched thoroughly.

Good, informative, accurate, but heavy. I think I'm going to put it down for now. I can see myself finishing this later. I'm just in the mood for something more narrative right now...
