James Clinton Slusher is on page 200 of 384 of Compulsion (Max Revere, #2)
Not sure I'm going to finish this one. It's kind of a standard trial mystery so far and the audiobook reader's sugary voice is a total misfit. I'm finding Dan Bauman's "The Fifth Vote," a much more compelling story of this genre, and Dennis Hetzel's "Killing the Cubs" was also far more engrossing. I'll keep going a while, but I'm not sure I care enough about either the pop-psychology plot or any of the characters..

I'm not sure about this book. I'm getting close to halfway through and we haven't even remotely begun talking about the next species yet, which is what I'm interested in considering. Instead, I'm getting a lot of paleontology and anthropology, mixed in with population/climate change doomism. I'm learning a lot, but I'd really hoped more to reflect on the future than to berate the present through studying the past.

I'm beginning to tire of his book. I think it's been like 5 or 6 years that she's been stringing Dudley along, as well as half the princes of Europe. And little of it told within the context of the larger political and social events of the day. I'm going to give it a few more pages -- and then, we just may skip to the end and be done with it.

I read this excellent book a year ago and I'm reading it again now while waiting to find a new audiobook. I'm amazed at the detail I'm already picking up. It gives a thought-provoking perspective on the origins of Paul's letters, several biblical books and of Christianity itself.

Wanted something with a bit more personality than I've been reading lately and I was rewarded from the very first paragraph. Bryson is without equal. This is going to be fun - and interesting, which is the same thing, I guess.

Just getting started. Have to say I'm not a huge Thomas Jefferson fan, though most of my impressions are formed from histories and biographies of his political enemies. So far, I think my impressions of him as kind of ego-centric, arrogant and insensitive to others is holding fairly true, but I also know I'll come to know him as a more complex individual, maybe the most complex in the founding-father pantheon.

It's an interesting examination of the two bands. Why do I always get the feeling with these two guys though that they love showing off how much they know about music more than they love the music itself.

As I expected, very insightful and interesting. I don't know that much about Washington, so I'm enjoying learning. And Ellis is such an accurate biographer, you feel like you're really getting to know the man, not the myth.

This is an excellent book. I picked it up on a lark, simply because of the connection to the "Beat the Reaper" game on Firesign Theater. It turns out to be an extremely smart, creatively written and wholly original mob/doctor drama.

Ion of Independence, the Constitution and ever the management of troops at Valley Forge - the battle for sovereignty between the states and the federal government. The one ray of hope? We survived then. Surely we will survive now.

This is a pgreat book and a particularly great book to read during the time of political shadow under which we live now. For what it amply demonstrates is that the selfish, partisan parochialism we are witnessing now is nothing in comparison to the selfish, arrogant, duplicitous, partisan parochialism of the founding fathers. and the primary controversy today is the same one that underlay the writing of the Declarat

I'm a little over a third of the way through, but I put the book down a couple weeks ago and am having troublemaker getting back to it. I read Freedom and had some similar issues but eventually came to really like the book. I'm hoping for the same here, but so far, I'm just not bonding with any of the characters.
