I find it a bit far-fetched that Senlin keeps bumping into the same people in this huge tower, but then again, you somehow do always end up bumping into people you wouldn't want to see... Still a great series, and I still love the narration. <3

I'm failing MISERABLY this year but at least I'm still trying? Btw, did you guys know that, even though Godot was written by Beckett (who was Irish) it was actually originally written in French because Beckett had lived in France at the time. He then later also translated it into English himself.

LOL, I love it.

The "problem" with this book is that I always listen to it while lying down and cozied up, so I never want to interrupt the flow whenever I hear something really well-written to take notes. And I just end up not doing it. But it's great.

Warmly recommended by my brother-in-law, I'm listening to the audiobook. First of all, kudos to the narrator as I usually really struggle with focusing on audiobooks but this narrator is so good it takes almost zero effort to focus on what he's narrating.
Secondly, when I was told this was a fantasy book, I was not expecting to find a story about a man losing his wife in a crowd. :D Pretty interesting so far.

This is hilariously terrible.

Somewhere a child was being born. Somewhere a dog was barking. Life was going on but in this one moment at this particular place in time and space. The two beautiful women, one twisting her hair into knots, the other sittings sideways, were not part of it. They were here only for each other and for the memory of a great man who had walked the earth like a rock in the sand.

Brilliance bias is in no small part a result of a data gap: we have written so many female geniuses out of history, they just don't come to mind as easily. The result is that when "brilliance" is considered a requirement for a job, what is really meant is "a penis".

It's true, no? If someone asked you to think of a genius, how many of you (us) would think of a woman?

I can't believe that, up until a few days ago, I had no idea Norton also wrote fiction! And it's actually pretty decent so far! It reminds me a bit of The Casual Vacancy but I guess you could say that about almost any small-town-big-secrets book.

This book is FASCINATING. So far we've covered textile used in the military, hearing aids, leg injuries, genital injuries and transplants, combat medics and their training, heat regulation (sweating), and diarrhea. Super interesting.
