It is appealing, but everything Dennis Lehane writes is absorbing. Some of his books are heavy and some are lighter, and this is his first book ever, so .......

I can't believe I made it this far. I can't finish this. It's drawn out in legality which would be interesting if it was another topic. I quit!

I don't dislike Mary. She lost her innocence way too early and was forced into living on the streets. There were no other options for her, and this was obviously a reality for women in this time period. What is disturbing to me is that she'd rather do that than be a servant. It's on the bottom of the ladder, but I'd take servant any day!

I'm glad I stuck through it because it was slightly discomforting. At this stage I'm in the I can't put this down and the history is fascinating. It's very well written, but the beginning was oh so risque.

I really tried to get into this. It is nothing against Susanna, this is about her real life experiences. I guess since I've had such a different life, I didn't relate in any way at all whatsoever, except for the not connecting with your mother and being sent away to boarding school, except mine was more of a religious cult. I like a character I can relate to. Stopped reading.

I read it, and must say I am upset with the ending. I don't know who the wolf is, I want to know what happened at Gramma's house, and why was she with Henry and then off with Peter. What kind of ending is this???

This is so intense I had to stop because certain characters are irritating me with the decisions they are making. I love the story, and I wish it was a bit thicker, because I'm almost finished. It is a wonderful version of Red Riding Hood. Wow!
